Nose
Some fresh peatiness. Palate
Starts very sweet and syrupy, with some maltiness. Becomes rather bland. Finish
Weak. Late warmth. Comment
Seems like an attempt at an old-fashioned blend, but a bit two-dimensional.
Jim Murray
Nose
Finely tuned and impressive, an intriguing hint of juniper and liquorice co-ordinate with a firm grain. Palate
Remains firm and here the complexity takes hold with fabulous cocoa, grassy malt and spices. Finish
Long and simple; malt glow lingers. Comment
Excellent classic blend from the old school: brilliantly firm grain guarantees class and complexity. If they dropped the colour – which affects the taste towards the middle – it would hit amazing heights.
