Nose
Burnt orange and vanilla. Palate
Rounded, with soft fruits, burnt toast and sherry cask maturation in evidence. Finish
Dry leaves and woodsmoke. Comment
Pleasant but undramatic. I was a little disappointed to find out it was Highland Park… surely we can do better than this?
Owen Barstow
Nose
Malty, nutty, biscuity, mixed dried fruit (apricots?) Some creamy toffee and the faintest whiff of smoke. Palate
More dried fruit – tea loaf? Sweet and bitter. Vaguely winey, too. Finish
On the short side and somewhat tannic. Oxidisation? Faint smoke? Comment
I find Port and even Madeira characteristics here. Complex enough, but probably not to everyone’s liking.
