Nose
Citrussy and buttery. Orange curd. Earthy and musty. Moss, fern. Hint of rose. Palate
Sweet at first, then gets close to medlars. Spices wipe out this unpleasant note. Finish
Dry and spicy. Rather tangy. Comment
Lacks balance. Alcohol is quite fierce. Water tames it down but needs to be strictly dosed as it enhances bitterness. Some character but quite sharp.
Dave Broom
Nose
High-toned and estery but with a deep caramel toffee from the oak. Super-ripe fruits and a smoky edge. Palate
Praline, runny toffee, sultana. Somewhat rum like: allspice, ginger, brazil nut, cool mint, rice crackers. Smoke hangs above like a veil. Finish
Clean and gentle. Medium. Comment
Perfume and smoke? It’s a Japanese Ardmore.
