- Nose
- Woody. Rich oak. Burnt wood. But also a touch of wet damp cellar with must on the walls.
- Palate
- Thick, syrupy. Smooth and sweet. Chestnut purée. Wood is more integrated than expected. Coffee toffee.
- Finish
- Long, peppery.
- Comment
- Reveals more balance on the palate than expected. Certainly on the wood side but in a rich and complex way.

- Nose
- Very odd: turnip skin, bread crust, burning wood. With water, Indian spices and blonde tobacco notes.
- Palate
- Liquorous. Marsala-like burnt edge. A little tannic and tight in the mouth. Water loosens things up bringing out orange and chocolate.
- Finish
- Short, slightly bitter.
- Comment
- Can't quite get over that odd nose.
