Tasting Notes

Arthur Motley Nose Peaches and cherries, scented candlewax. Dusty and floral too, like dried roses. Palate Apricots, then burnt wood and a savoury character. Finish Dried mushrooms. Comment Pretty, light in body, with the smoky/savoury element providing interest.

Owen Barstow Nose Strangely flat and waxy on top; yet underneath, some sharp orange-citrus notes. After time, some biscuit notes with chocolate. Palate Sweet and waxy. Orange squash. Ginger ale. Sweetshop flavours. Finish Some cedary cigar box notes. Ginger and cinnamon. Very late citrus character emerges. Comment Japanese whisky is frequently surprising and rarely disappointing. This whacky, outside the box, example is no exception.
