- Nose
- Woodier, more firm and slightly vinous. The black fruits are now dried,
less definition on the nose.
- Palate
- The smoke seems to have been shunted forward. A good mix of rich
spirit, dried fruit.
- Finish
- Thick and only lightly smoked. Generous and sweet.
- Comment
- For me the complexities have been diminished rather than enhanced. It's a good drink and may be more acceptable for newbies but since when did all whisky have to be acceptable to everyone?
- Nose
- Much darker and secretive than before. Its layers are well hidden. The finish seems to have dominance, but the smoke fights through although it is tempered.
- Palate
- The smoke hits you first, before waves of dark treacle come in. Spices lurk as well. Very rich.
- Finish
- Big, sweet and comforting.
- Comment
- A lush, decadent addition to the Lagavulin range. One for the dark winter days.
