- Nose
- Fresh, mild antiseptic, subtle peat smoke.
- Palate
- Complex. Smoked haddock, cut plug tobacco, burnt newspapers, but buttery, sweeter cooked fruit notes predominate.
- Finish
- Chewy toffee drying out to oak.
- Comment
- A fine robust dram with lots happening. Laphroaig at its best.

- Nose
- Sweet. Tarry with stewing citrus fruits (like making marmalade). Bere meal, varnish and tar. Like fence posts in the sun/caulked wood.
- Palate
- Big blast of smoke, then oak, malt, with sweetness and orangey fruit. The phenols lurk...
- Finish
- ...then reappear with a crunchy oatcake.
- Comment
- Sweeter and more oaky than I remember.
