- Nose
- Sherry central. Bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, treacle, liquorice, tinned prunes in syrup. A leathery/shoe polish note suggestive of age. Smoke emerges but in a savoury way.
- Palate
- The nose shouts: “here be tannins” and it's not wrong. Grippy, stewed Earl Grey tea. Still savoury with a sweetness in the centre. Better with water where the smoke comes through but aggressive and unbalanced.
- Finish
- Tarry and nutty malt.
- Comment
- An acquired taste. Some will like it, but it's too woody and nothing on the 1974 bottling by la Maison du Whisky.

- Nose
- A sherry cask, for sure. Dark wood. Humus in a wet underwood. Sultanas, dried dates. Liquorice. All concentrated aromas.
- Palate
- Just the same. With assertive wood prevailing. Quite refined though.
- Finish
- Oaky with a burnt wood note. Nutty aftertaste.
- Comment
- A“wyniwyg”(what you nose is what you get) whisky. You have got to be a sherry cask fan. I'd like to perceive more distillery character.
