80- Nose
- Citrus zest. Coconut. Salt.
- Palate
- Plenty of flavour development. Starts with coconut ice intense sweetness, moving to marshmallow-like maltiness, and then an astonishingly sudden rush of lemon juice.
- Finish
- Passion fruit. Hard and strong.
- Comment
- Jumps and bites. This is the young Springbank, not yet the mature sophisticate.
Dave Broom
85- Nose
- Starts creamy/buttery, then sooty smoke and hints of oily weight. Water teases out a marine/medicinal note and malty core. Gains power as it develops but is subtle and complex, not overpowering.
- Palate
- A firm structure with briny character on show. Great rich, quite oily feel. Mouthfilling and complex.
- Finish
- Decent length.
- Comment
- A lovely young Springbank with all the distillery's classic attributes.
