Nose
At first, turpentine spirit and linseed oil – studio aromas – punctuated by spearmint? Menthol? Juicy fruit gum? Cointreau? Palate
Astringent and a little salty. Cough mixtures. Dense treacle toffee. Pain au chocolate. Finish
Burnt pastry. Not quite as oily as one might have expected. Eucalyptus notes with water. Comment
An extremely complex – and for me, pleasant – nose is matched by a dense and demanding palate.
Arthur Motley
Nose
Succulent esters, with pear drops and crépe suzette. Also strawberry, violet, lime and sherbert. Some luscious coffee fudge, ginger and vanilla. Palate
Chocolate, bourbon, oak and perhaps a little ashy peat. Finish
Dry and subtly spicy. Comment
A complex, aged and vibrantly mature Speyside. Very good.
