Nose
Light, scented. A herbalist’s shop. Waxed furniture, dried herbs. Refreshing. Mint. Lemon. Peat. Palate
Surprisingly sweet and velvety. Rich, sweet barley notes. Close to medicinal (the herbalist again). Citrus fruit salad. A hint of peat. Finish
Warm, leaving a fizzy sensation in the mouth then fading quickly. Comment
Macallan in disguise. Impossible to recognise blind. So unusual but really attractive.
Dave Broom
Nose
Light and slightly neutral when naked. In time there’s smoke, lemon, fresh fruit. Becomes increasingly phenolic. Palate
An oily texture. Powerfully phenolic, very dry with a chewy centre. Finish
Smoke … and lots of it. Comment
This is Macallan?? Either a peated experiment at the distillery or it’s been filled into an ex-Caol Ila cask.
