- Lots of smoke, molasses, coal-tar soap. Very focused.
- Palate
- Increasingly dry. Bladderwrack and machine oil.
- Finish
- Smoke and oak plus brine, but also sweeter notes trying to come through.
- Comment
- Good all-round Laphroaig. Sound stuff.

80- Nose
- Peat reek and deck oil, toasty oak, then a sweet cereal: Sugar Puffs. Fruit, dried orange peel. Begins to dry and smoke: wet canvas, iodine.
- Palate
- Supple with a sweet, generous mid palate balanced by crisp malt/oak. Smoke on the back palate: tar, peppered mackerel, light salt.
- Finish
- Lightly oily. Liquorice and smoke.
- Comment
- Good balance between sweet/soft and dry/peat.
