- Nose
- Charred embers/charcoal/coal dust shifting into juniper and pine. Lightly smoked fish.
- Palate
- A dry and smoky start. Foggy smoke that knocks back the sweetness which is there: sultanas packed inside a baked apple.
- Finish
- Dry and smoky again.
- Comment
- Too chimney-like for me. Lacks the balance between sweetness and dryness you need in such a peaty dram.

- Nose
- Dried fruit, rum butter and mixed peel. An occasional waft of struck flint, morphs into a clearer smokiness. Mint toffee, lint bandages and citrus.
- Palate
- Sultanas, wood smoke, apple, ship rope and Christmas pudding spice.
- Finish
- Smokiness and dry rope.
- Comment
- Took a while to show its true colours as an Ardbeg, but developed into a good example.
