- Nose
- Salty. Seaweedy. Oily. Passion fruit. Spicy. Mace?
- Palate
- Light touch of sherry and toasty malt. Spicy. Pepper.
- Finish
- Firm, dry, appetising.
- Comment
- Shows that this whisky can handle some age and sherry.

- Nose
- Some rich, softly honied, gently waxed, leathery Bourbony notes; a good age and a light malt.
- Palate
- Truly stunning balance achieved by the massive sweet malt and the old oak. Deep Bourbon-style notes offering a coffee fudge depth.
- Finish
- Some demerara sweetness but is over whelmed by the mounting sweet oak. Never dries.
- Comment
- Why don't Gordon & MacPhail bottle at cask strength more often? This is fabulous.
