- Nose
- Sherry from top to bottom. Nothing but wood.
- Palate
- Sweet and bitter. Wood, wood and wood again. Cigar box. Then, shyly emerging, a mix of fruity and earthy flavours. Hint of peat. Dried fruit.
- Finish
- Quite long, but soon turning dry and bitter.
- Comment
- The distillery character is buried far below the wood. One can hardly detect even a light puff of smoke. Water does not help.

- Nose
- Heavily sherried. Christmas cake, burnt raisin, cold stewed tea. Where's the whisky?
- Palate
- Very tannic, so woody that the spirit has been obliterated and you have to pick splinters out of your tongue.
- Finish
- Dry.
- Comment
- What is the point of this other than to prove that leaving Talisker in first-fill sherry casks for 20 years leads to oblivion?
