Nose
Very aromatic. Bison-grass. A hint of smokiness. Palate
Earthy. Peppery. Sandy. Austere. Finish
Fruity. Seaweed, pronounced salt. Very appetising. Comment
From a sadly silent still: a great malt that is too good to chill, but wonderful with smoked salmon or scallops. Or, deservedly, caviar. You serve vodka? Shame on you!
Dave Broom
Nose
Intense and haughty. There’s oils at work along with fresh bay leaf and an austere, flinty smokiness. Maritime. Palate
Dry and austere initially but manages to coat the mouth leaving lingering smoke in every corner. Finish
Long dry with some oiliness. Comment
Takes time to get to know. One to sip.
