- Nose
- Fresh apple aroma. Grass. Touch of peat.
- Palate
- Firm. Fresh, fruity, apple, combining well with the vanilla, cereal character of the whisky.
- Finish
- Fruity. Dry. Lively, Some length.
- Comment
- As with the Caol Ila wood finishes reviewed in the last issue, the calvados is a powerful influence but the whisky does fight back-makes for an interesting combination.

- Nose
- Thin, tinny, cabbage water: awfully off-beam and unattractive.
- Palate
- Sweet and shapeless, quite sugary.
- Finish
- Bitter and unwieldy.
- Comment
- Remind me never to put Imperial into a calvados cask.
