Nose
Vegetal. Peppery. Aromatic.
Palate
Dry, firm, chewiness. Lots of flavour development. Sooty. Smoky. Oaky. Sappy. Orange pith and zest.
Finish
Surprisingly lively, spicy. Faintly medicinal.
Comment
A grizzled old character, but gains points for resilience.

Nose
Full: clootie dumpling mix, chocolate, toffee then nut, coal/smoke.
Palate
Medium rich. The smoke clings to everything: soft cakey fruit and apple and as it dries walnut bread.
Finish
Smoky.
