Nose
Sweet but slightly burnt. Reminiscent of treacle toffee. Perhaps even molasses. Palate
Starts sweet, almost icing-sugar, then quickly dries to grassier, herbal, oily notes. Finish
Light peat. Cedar. Comment
A pleasant malt, but this bottling has less structure than I remember. It is to be hoped that new owners Dewar's give more prominence to this distillery.
Jim Murray
Nose
Delicate and floral, the oak input from the bourbon barrel is in perfect harmony with the gently sweet malt. Palate
Less compelling than the aroma. Offers mouth-watering malt before a burst of peat dries it out. Finish
Bittersweet, oaky-smoky affair that lasts longer than expected. Comment
An impressively balanced, stylish dram that deserves far better recognition.
