Nose
Buttery sweetness. Rum. Bananas. Is this the ‘sherry’ of South Africa or the whin of the Highlands? I am not sure. Palate
Banana liqueur. Then smoky, like a pancake that has burned slightly. Finish
Soothing, caramel-ish, with some leafy spiciness. Comment
A very unusual expression of Clynelish.
Dave Broom
Nose
Smoky. Some waxiness and a grapey note as well. Madeira cask like in its charred dry notes. Palate
Better than the nose, sweet and rich and coats the mouth. Another which is all feel. The singed note comes back towards the finish. Finish
A little dirty? Comment
At the risk of being pedantic are you allowed to call it South African sherry?
