- Nose
- Lightly dry. Incense. Flowery.
- Palate
- Oily, orangey, but more creamy in style.
- Finish
- Seems very sweet indeed, then suddenly the peat-smoke emerges. Very long.
- Comment
- Less structure than the youthful version from the distillery or the more mature choice, but enjoyable in its own right. As a dessert malt with trifle?
75
- Nose
- Heady stuff with the oak. Good sweet/dry balance, nonetheless.
- Palate
- Begins lazily with some non-specific oakiness offering a bland start, then takes off with a malty sweetness tweaked by some peppery notes.
- Finish
- Pretty flat with a soothing malt-oak finishing.
- Comment
- The nose and finish do little to set the pulse racing. But it's worth the boring bits for the magnificent middle.
