Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson Nose Peppery. Seaweed. The sea. Some iron-like notes. Palate Very oily. Sweet, but also salty. Long flavour development. Seems a mature, restrained, rounded, expression of Laphroaig; and then… Finish Sudden explosion of salt and pepper. Comment I enjoyed this very much, but it does not add a great deal to the canon.

Dave Broom Nose Immediate: smoked haddock, creosote/tar, hessian, peat smoke with lovely sweet fruitiness behind. In time, leather. Great. Palate Smouldering peat fires, heather, violet. Dry oak balanced by lovely toffee sweetness in the middle of the palate. Complex. Finish Long, peaty, tarry. Comment A huge, rich and strangely elegant Laphroaig. Miles better than the official 15 Years Old.
