- Nose
- Freshly baked bread, straight out of the oven. That Mortlach aroma gets me every time.
- Palate
- Very nutty. Barley sugar. Spicy complexity.
- Finish
- A hint of passion fruit. Big, expressive and long.
- Comment
- The most complex and structured of the Mortlachs in this tasting.

- Nose
- Powerful. Meaty: roasting tin, Bovril, roasted chestnut, black butter, treacle toffee, struck match. With water: charred, rich and smoky-campfire/burnt rope.
- Palate
- Thick and powerful. Meaty again: water makes it sweeter, bringing out dried fruits over the smoky dry notes of char and roasted coffee.
- Finish
- Campfire ashes.
- Comment
- As robust a Mortlach as you could wish for.
