- Nose
- Sweet and perfumed, plums followed by smoke and cigar boxes.
- Palate
- Short sweetness, stewed prunes, then dry note of damped-down bonfire.
- Finish
- Plums and a faint whiff of peat smoke.
- Comment
- Lots happening here. A complex and highly unusual expression of Port Ellen.

- Nose
- Concentrated. Fruit compote, baked fruits, tinned raspberry, cooked plum but with phenolics acting as a counterpoint: tobacco leaf, coal.
- Palate
- A sweet, winey start then it dries allowing the peat to emerge before relaxing and letting raspberry fruitiness to return. Layered, complex.
- Finish
- Mellow, winey, a hint of fragrant smoke.
- Comment
- Audacious but it works. Brilliantly.
