- Nose
- Straightforward nuttiness/nut shell, slightly bitter. Opens into yew, sawn oak, draff, then marshmallow and a touch of apple and fig relish.
- Palate
- Nut oils. Quite biscuity and rich. Leafy.
- Finish
- Crisp short.
- Comment
- A perfectly pleasant dram, but lacking the finesse and complexity of the best on show here.

- Nose
- Malt extract, chocolate mint, melted cheese, honeysuckle, brown bread with lots of butter. Background grassiness.
- Palate
- Citric, with orange juice and lime. Stewed fruits and toasted oak.
- Finish
- Malty and citric.
- Comment
- Has that balanced character that makes for an ideal gift whisky, but lacked drama.
