Nose
High phenols. Intense. Seaweed mixed with lime, bog myrtle, wet fish. Seems young and slightly plain. Rubber emerges with water. Palate
Very light. Alcohol, smoke and pork fat. Killed by water. That rubbery note returns suggesting youth (or immaturity). Finish
Dilute and thin. Comment
It’s young and seems to have been too heavily reduced.
Martine Nouet
Nose
Grassy with a lingering distant smoke. Like a burnt off bonfire. Apple skin with a hint of yeast, reminding of a fermenting cider. Palate
Smoke is far more distinctive. Sweet shellfish. A hint of roasted coffee beans. Finish
Dry, smoky, slightly sooty. Comment
The smoke gives its full expression on the palate, overwhelming the fruit. An early morning dram. Possibly to be tried on your porridge?
