Nose
Overt oakiness - wood freshly treated with Danish oil. Then comes red fruits, rhubarb, almond and a light herbal note before paprika and a green vegetal note.
Palate
Intense and slightly nutty. Firm wood giving it a slight bittersweet edge. Just a little hint of treacle and then lots of spices like sumac.
Finish
That refreshing tartness continues as the red fruits return.
Comment
Just slightly too much wood for me.

Nose
Deep. Fruity with a definite note of new oak. Sappy. Plums cooked in a vanilla syrup. Hint of new leather. Slowly opening on pastry notes. Vanilla custard. Getting creamier on time. With water, a citrus note.
Palate
Sweet and velvety. Oak has taken the lead. Some dried fruit. Sultanas. Stewed peaches. Lots of spices.
Finish
Dry, gingery.
Comment
Same distillery, same strength but a totally different profile. The French oak has relooked it. A bit too much for me.
