Heather honey with smoke underneath. Salty again but everything softened by oak. Wet sails, oilskins, cough sweets, bitter orange peel, white peppercorn and Lochaber smoked cheese. Mature and rich. Complex.
Palate
Multifaceted, rounded and harmonious. Smoke is there but also a dense savoury fruitiness. Great balance.
Melon and sweetened, stewed rhubarb. Dark chocolate sauce, roast hazelnuts and some Dettol medicinal notes.
Palate
More of that chocolate, some quite astringent tannins and chilli spice.
Finish
Brooding smoke and a little salty chlorine. Possibly a light soapiness too.
Comment
Certainly complex, and a phenolic element that wove slyly in and out of what was a coastal experience.
