Gavin Smith
Nose
Initially curiously unyielding, slight perfume, eventually warm horse (in a good way) and cloves.
Palate
Confident. Golden syrup, slight oiliness balancing dry sherry notes, moving into soft peat and a little smoke.
Finish
Long lasting, more delicate, fragrant notes appear as it fades. Slightly winey.
Comment
This expression wears its years well.

Nose
Dry and ash-like: cedar, cigar ash, charred. Softens, showing honeycomb, candied peel, acacia, honey, kumquat, orange pekoe tea, powdered ginger.
Palate
Soft, unctuous feel. Cream, orange peel, that cigar box note again, hint of nut. Fine grained tannin. Great balance with depth and texture.
Finish
Soft and gentle, fades discreetly.
Comment
Fantastic length. A truly three-dimensional malt.
