Nose
Quite plain and oaky: cigar box, pine flooring, dry bracken, sweetening into sponge cake, date. With water a lightly doughy note and a hint of cold green tea. Palate
Sweet...then dry...then sweet. Spreads well initially but becomes rather dull and flat. Finish
Custard and then spice. Woodsmoke. Comment
A disappointment after the class of the 1972.
Arthur Motley
Nose
Orange liqueur sweetness and a sweet chlorine. Orange peel and banana. With water a little more sherbety, then grassiness, vanilla and blossom. More baked banana. Palate
Lots of bourbon cask character, with toasted oak and vanilla. Finish
More US oak and a burnt twig bitterness. Comment
The overall experience was harmed by the bitterness.
