- Nose
- Fresh bread, well-toasted, buttered, and spread with grapefruit marmalade. A vase of flowers: orange blossom, surely?
- Palate
- Complex citrus and apricot flavours, very tightly combined, as though anxious not to seem showy. Discretion in the British tradition.
- Finish
- Orange oil. Perfumy. Bittersweet.
- Comment
- Vivid descriptors, but the flavours are very restrained. A most elegant whisky.

- Nose
- Heady, aromatic and beautifully intense with floral notes, heather, a little smoke, fudge, sultana, honey, pot pourri and a sweetly subtle polished oak.
- Palate
- Sweet, rounded and honeyed with macadamia nut. The slightly heathery smoke hits mid-palate. Complex, subtle and rewarding.
- Finish
- A hint of smoke, fresh, a touch of oak dryness.
- Comment
- No woodiness at 43 Years Old, instead incredible intensity and freshness. Truly remarkable.
