- Lots of sherry. Malt.
- Palate
- Very sweet and toffeeish. Creamy. Good wood extract. Spicy. Dusty.
- Finish
- Spicy, lively, long.
- Comment
- The dark mahogany colour speaks of wood. The cask itself had more to give than the 1970.
Martine Nouet
80- Nose
- Less intense than the 1970 but in the same vein. Vanilla fudge. Flowering currant. Sultanas. A hint of yeast.
- Palate
- Bitter-sweet. Slightly tangy. More spices and more wood than the 1970. Takes more time to open up.
- Finish
- Long and spicy.
- Comment
- Quite a robust Macallan. Less delicate than the 1970 but in tune with the Macallan style.
