- Nose
- Immediate clean, dry, peat smoke.
- Palate
- Big, firm. Peaty, grassy, lively.
- Finish
- Sweet, gingery. Treacly. Astonishingly long.
- Comment
- This is true of several of the older Macallans, suggesting that the sherry casks had contained styles other than dry Oloroso.

- Clove spice, cinnamon, citrus orange, some dried fruits.
- Palate
- Powerful rich clove spice with dried fruit.
- Finish
- Viscous and rich in the mouth it has a long and lingering spicy clove finish.
- Comment
- Classic example of The Macallan.
