Nose
Very spicy and dusty. Honeyed. Palate
Firm. Intense sweetness at first. Then perfumy. Lemony. Anis. A hint of quinine dryness. Finish
A touch of oakiness. Comment
Similar to the 1841, but not quite as sophisticated.
Dave Broom
Nose
Light and malty with light pear and an earthy note. Hay-like, wholemeal flour, yeasty, slightly immature (greengage). Palate
A softer slightly oilier texture than the nose suggests. Light and cereal-driven. No breadth or complexity. Finish
Crisp and fairly short. Comment
A bit young and one-dimensional. Quite disappointing.
