- Very spicy and dusty. Honeyed.
- Palate
- Firm. Intense sweetness at first. Then perfumy. Lemony. Anis. A hint of quinine dryness.
- Finish
- A touch of oakiness.
- Comment
- Similar to the 1841, but not quite as sophisticated.
Dave Broom

- Light and malty with light pear and an earthy note. Hay-like, wholemeal flour, yeasty, slightly immature (greengage).
- Palate
- A softer slightly oilier texture than the nose suggests. Light and cereal-driven. No breadth or complexity.
- Finish
- Crisp and fairly short.
- Comment
- A bit young and one-dimensional. Quite disappointing.
