Michael Jackson
Nose
Fresh peat. Smells of the kiln. These aromas quickly diminish. Lemony and malty notes emerge.
Palate
Slippery smooth. Sweet, rich maltiness. A crescendo of citrussy, estery, liqueur-ish, flavours.
Finish
Only now do I detect a hint of caramel-like flavour from the wine cask. Sherry? Madeira? When the blindfold is removed, it turns out to be Marsala.
Comment
The estery Macallan notes are as brassy as the Basie band on top form.

Nose
Slightly buttery malt and a strange (non-peaty) smokiness like heavily roasted nuts.
Palate
This burnt/roasted quality hits you immediately, then comes the soft sweet buttery/oily centre, then a slight bitterness.
Finish
Soft and long.
Comment
It doesn’t quite hang together, but hits the mouth in three totally separate sections. I can understand the underlying idea, it just hasn’t been pulled off.
