Nose
Sesame toast. Sweet oranges. Marsala wine. Palate
Fresh. Oily. Light and lively on the tongue. More sesame toast – an exotic transformation of the whisky’s typical cereal grain character. Finish
Fresh tangerines, pistachio nuts, then peppercorns. Very big and very long. Comment
This highly respected whisky lives a blamelessly quiet life near Elgin. One little drink of Marsala and the Lossie goes all Mediterranean.
Dave Broom
Nose
A charred wood note, date, quite nutty in an oxidised wine fashion. Water brings out fruit cake. Palate
Soft and smooth with a rich fruity core. That charred note comes through in a slightly jarring manner. Finish
Long and quite dry. Comment
One way to get people to rediscover Marsala, but what we need is to get them to discover Longmorn. More Sicilian than Speyside.
