Tasting Notes

Martine Nouet

Nose
Sweet, lots of caramel that obliterates all other aromas. Just a hint of mint coming through.
Palate
Sweet at first then shifts on to the oaky side. A hint of liquorice and a bitter astringency.
Finish
Short, bitter.
Comment
All that caramel dress up seems to hide an immature spirit. Has it been aged in decent wood? One can wonder.

Dave Broom

Nose
Planed oak fir, pine but this also has apple, barley-sugar. Honeycomb on toast.
Palate
Sweet, but also nutty. Marzipan, an estery lift alongside that distinctly Canadian silky feel. Good length.
Finish
Long mingling sweet and spicy.
Comment
It’s almost like a pudding whisky, but has balance.
