Nose
Vanilla. Fresh oak. Earthy. Pine cones on the forest floor. Ferny. Palate
Toast. Bean curd. Walnut. Dry. Drying. Strong flavours. Finish
Lean but limber. A muscular punch. Bourbon-like. Comment
The Yamazaki I know well; but with a more obvious and robust hint of bourbon character.
Dave Broom
Nose
Peaty (sooty) yet fragrant, solid but pretty (it’s young) As it opens there’s vanilla, syrup/barley sugar and in the background some orange and a wood fire, the memory of bubbling sap. Palate
A dry start, then opal fruit sweetness, then smoke and that attractive sappy quality. Finish
Slightly hot. The youth shows. Comment
A good addition to the range, maybe just a little young.
