- Nose
- Sweet maltiness tangled up in oak. Cedary, creamy. Almond toffee, touch of sour apple. A distant smoky hint. With water, more fruitiness.
- Palate
- Vibrant prickling, with a big burst of smoke and spices. Apricot and almond flan. Hot paprika.
- Finish
- Warm, dry and spicy. Oak shows up.
- Comment
- A sharp character, full of life. Needs water to tame the alcohol. For an outdoor invigorating crisp morning walk.

- Nose
- Reed bed/wicker chair. Dry and crisp, slightly nutty with plenty of toasty pine-like oakiness. Water brings out smoke and some fragrance.
- Palate
- A momentary pause and then a huge blast of smoke, this time bonfire-like; drying crab shell, lightly perfumed. Another which starts hard (think of Port Ellen). Intense and quite dry.
- Finish
- Sweet. Medium length.
- Comment
- Slightly diminished by quality of its colleagues.
