Some of the best from Scotland

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Reference Series Reference Series III
Blended Malt - Scotland - 47.50%
8 Warm waffles drizzled in runny honey. Excellent stuff.

Reference Series Reference Series II
Blended Malt - Scotland - 47.50%
8 Nice and rich, but (like us all) it could be richer.

Clan Denny Port Dundas 1978 34 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.60%
8 A belter of a grain with typical Port Dundas funkiness.

Wemyss Vintage Malts Lord Elcho
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
8 The air the day after a hippy festival leaves town. Scented and earthy.

Cutty Sark Tam O'Shanter
Blended - Scotland - 46.50%
8 A bigger Cutty than you might expect but the purity of character links it to the family. Weel (sic) done!

Johnnie Walker Platinum 18 years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Though I miss Gold at this age statement this is a worthy replacement with a little more overt Walker characteristics: smoke and a sherried grip.

Whisky Magazine - Best Buy - Winner

Master of Malt 8 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Cleanliness, style and substance. A wee cracker!

Saint Isidore
Blended - Scotland - 41.40%
8 The first nose is unusual and takes you to pine forests. Then the fruit character unwinds. Water releases a cardboard note. I like the spiciness and bouncyp rofile of this whisky.

Double Barrel Mortlach/Laphroaig
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Lovely tussle between the two elements. A lot of fun.

Wemyss Vintage Malts Salt & Pepper 1997
Blended - Scotland - 56.20%
7 Has good balance and decent complexity.

Grant's 25 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 A delicate and enticing whisky which would have benefited from a higher strength. When you want to try a little tenderness.

Lauder's 15 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 The nose is sweeter than the palate but this is a well structured dram. Water kills it though.

Wemyss Vintage Malts Peat Chimney 8 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 Well put together.

Wemyss Vintage Malts The Hive 8 Years Old
Blended Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
7 A well structured dram but the oakiness is a bit too blatant for me.

Fort Glen The Blender's Reserve 12 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 Perfectly OK, but a bit whisky by numbers.
