Compass Box This Is Not A Luxury Whisky
Blended - Scotland - 53.10% 9 Simply stunning! A little more sweetness in the finish might have been nice.
21 Years Old Signature Oak Edition
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 8 An exquisite blend with what appears to be quite a high malt content and some lovely age.
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 8 Proof that blends are not inferior to single malts!
Chivas Regal 18 Ultimate Cask Collection
Blended - Scotland - 48.00% 8 Now, that's an example of a fine blended whisky!
Duncan Taylor 21 Years Old
Blended Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 4 A lovely matured blend. The oldest of the six and the most complex.
Syndicate 58/6 12 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 9 Ooh, now that has a beautiful palate cleansing finish!
The Antiquary 35 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 46.00% 9 I need a big cigar, my slippers and a leather armchair next to a roaring fire to appreciate this!
Angels' Nectar Blended Malt Rich Peat Edition
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 It's always fun trying to guess the components of a blend. It comes across like a vatting of Caol Ila, Ledaig and Highland Park.
Duncan Taylor The Gentleman's Dram
Blended Malt - Scotland - 40.00% 4 I must admit, it was more subtly smoked than I expected but that smoke really lingers and the finish is probably the best of the six.
Wemyss Vintage Malts Spice King
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 4 A lovely blended malt. My only gripe is that the palate is a little too oily, muting the fresher elements and complexity of the nose.
Wemyss Malts Kiln Embers
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 The Islay component is quite dominating but there is a lovely balancing sweetness from the other malt components.
Wemyss Vintage Malts Peat Chimney
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 4 Just like the Spice King it showed more complexity on the nose than on the palate.
Compass Box Flaming Heart
Blended Malt - Scotland - 48.90% 8 As a whisky it's very enjoyable; however as a blend I feel the peated component is too dominant.
Duncan Taylor Kyloe
Blended Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 4 The ABV gives it a real punchy intensity but at the end of the, day it is still just a very grain heavy blend.
Label 5 Extra Rare 18 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 8 I had a sneaky feeling whilst nosing this that the oak would be too over-powering for the palate. I was correct in that assumption.
