The Irish West Coast Trail, Tullibardine Distillery, Bourbon Pot Stills, Westland Distillery
Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 8
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.20% 9 ?Absolutely triumphant – A bee keepers delight.
Banff 1966, 31 Years Old, Old Malt Cask
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 7 Banff was never a classic, but it is an evocatively old-fashioned Highland malt, and it has stood up reasonably well to great age.
Barrogill North Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00% 6 Not knitted.
Ben Nevis 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 The sweetness could be excessive, but it is saved by the stogie.
Ben Nevis 14 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 7 A well-balanced dram. Sherry signs it but not in an assertive way.
Ben Nevis The President's Cask 23 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.40% 8 A little water and this beauty unwinds into a sublime whisky.
Ben Nevis White Port Pipe Cask 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.30% 8 Classy and blemish free but, as I've said before, this isn't my preferred type of whisky.
BenRiach 10 Years Old
Single Malt - ScScotland - 43.00% 7 The balance shifts in favour of the oak on this one and thus the complexity of nose is missing on the palate.
BenRiach 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 8 Another killer from Mr Walker's warehouse. Distillery of the year for me.
BenRiach 30 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 9 Soft, subtle and not overwooded. Just shades it over the 25yo this time.
BenRiach Authenticus 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 A long, complex and harmonious run of flavour. Excellent.
BenRiach Authenticus Peated Single Malt 21 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 Another region-buster and a good one too.
BenRiach Bottled for Craigellachie Hotel 1976
Single Malt - Scotland - 57.60% 8 Very enjoyable and marked up for balance and poised integration.
BenRiach Curiositas peated malt, 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00% 7 A Speyside? The most Islayish of all the Speysides I have ever tasted. Interesting as a freak even if wood toughens the whole profile a little.
BenRiach Over 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 7 Herbal in the dry way. Leaves a bitter grassy note in the finish. I'd rather have a cup of tea.
BenRiach Over 20 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 7 Muscular. Welcome in a blizzard but don't expect Mozart when you are likely to get Wagner.
BenRiach Pedro Ximinez Sherry Wood Finish
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 7 A cheery dram, opening up on the sunny side with the definite rum colours on the nose. A dash of water sweetens the palate.
BenRiach Septemdicem 17 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 7 Another fine smoked Benriach.
BenRiach Solstice 17 Years Old Batch 2
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 7 A balance struck between spirit and oak(s). It shouldn't work, but it does.
Benrinnes 23 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.80% 7 You have got to like woody whiskies to drink this one. Has gone over the top for me. Certainly an old whisky but too long a maturation made it grumpy. Water kills it.
Benromach 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 A well-structured dram with character and delicacy. Very refreshing. A perfect Speysider to recommend.
Benromach 15 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 Two words... Simply stunning!
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00% 7 An old-fashioned whisky for an old-fashioned winter's evening. Wins points for being cuddly rather than complex.
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 ?A superb whisky, rich, deep, complex, with a mature oakiness. I would avoid water personally.
Benromach 21 Years Old, Old Tokaji Finish
Single Malt - Scotland - 45.00% 7 Rather unbalanced. The nose is far more promising than the palate. What's the point of the finish?
