Kentucky, Louisville, Benromach
BenRiach 16 Years Old 1995 Cask 7164
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.30%
8 This whisky is oak dominated. Too much for me as we have lost the distillery character, but the nose is expressive. Beware of water, it kills it.
Adelphi Clynelish 1995, Cask 12783
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.30%
8 Quite a character. Water mellows the spicy burn. Would match well with a chicken “à la crème”.
Berry's Own Selection Bowmore 1995
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.20%
7 A sunny malt. Quite sharp and spirity but a pleasant aromatic freshness. Could be a thirst quenching for some. Water does not cut all edges.
Caol Ila Distillers Edition 1995
- Scotland - 43.00%
8 A charming nose which is not fully delivered on the palate. But an excellent dram all together.
Caol Ila Distillers Edition 1995 Moscatel Wood
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
I've lost the Caol Ila.[see Talisker conclusion]
Celtique Connexion Champagne Finish
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
Chocolate Heaven Speyside 1995
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 Slightly disappointing until the finish which is worth the entry price.
Coffey 13 Years Old 1995 Single Cask
Single Grain - Japan - 64.00%
8 Silky and smooth.
Dewar Rattray Glen Spey 11 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.00%
7 It's a cad pursuing an innocent girl. The big bad wolf after little Red Riding Hood.
Dewar Rattray Tobermory 11 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.90%
5 This just hasn't been allowed to mature out. The result being it's harsh and all over the shop.
Evan Williams 1995 (Bottled 2005)
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 43.30%
In a similar vein to 89 and 94.
Glen Garioch Glen Garioch 1995
Single Malt - Scotland - 55.30%
7 Solid and drinkable.
Glen Moray Port Finish 1995 13 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.70%
7 Assertive and tangy. The alcohol is not mastered and the character
lacks depth.
Glendronach 15 Years Old 1995 Moscatel
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Soft and easy –and sweet –but all in all a little bland.
Glendronach 1995 Cask 4681
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.20%
8 A style of whisky which has its fans. But that oak infusion masks the distillery character and the essence of whisky for me. Sad, as the nose is interesting.
Glenfarclas The Family Casks 1995 16 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 52.50%
8 Staying just on the right side of the wood, this has plenty of sizzle left in it,
with some rather nice dry spiced notes.
Glenmorangie 1995 Artisan Cask
Single Malt - Scotland - 45.00%
8 This is a substantially richer style of Glenmorangie, but not overwhelmingly sweet. The balancing spices and herbs are all present and correct.
Glenrothes 16 Years Old, 1995
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
7 Drinkable enough, but marked down for its ‘fousty' nose.
Isle of Jura Boutique Barrels Bourbon J0
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.50%
7 Lost in the forest like Hansel and Gretel, but before they find the house
of sweets.
James MacArthur Allt-a-Bhainne 1995 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.90%
6 Quite harsh and burning. Alcohol is not tamed at all.
Karuizawa Noh Series 1995 13 Years Old Cask 5004
Single Malt - Japan - 63.00%
7 Rare steak anyone?
Lagavulin Distillers Edition 1995 Pedro Ximenez
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
For me the complexities have been diminished rather than enhanced. It's a good drink and may be more acceptable for newbies but since when did all whisky have to be acceptable to everyone?
Master of Malt Aberlour 1995 17 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.00%
8 Balanced, fresh and fruity – a fine opening dram for the evening.
Nikka Coffey Grain 1995
Single Grain - Japan - 60.00%
Medium to full-bodied, but that slight mustiness diminishes its undoubted
voluptuous charms.
Nikka Coffey Grain 1995 14 Years Old
Single Grain - Japan - 60.00%
7 A grainy profile enriched by fruity flavours. I'd happily try it chilled.
Queen of the Moorlands Bowmore 1995, Rare Cask
Single Malt - Scotland - 57.20%
7 Nothing wrong, just bottled too early.
The Arran Malt First 1995, Limited Edition
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 The early releases were promising, and this one has matured well.
The Glenrothes Vintage 1995, 16 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 The palate is sweeter and more open than the nose. Oak mellows on time.
Give it time.
Tomintoul 1995 14 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 A charmer and well done Tomintoul for taking the non-chill filtered,no colouring route. Have as a summer time aperitif.
