The 46 Years Old 1964 Fino cask bottling is limited to just 72 bottles and comes housed in a bespoke, hand blown bottle, hand crafted by highly regarded Scottish glassblowers Brodie Nairn and Nichola Burns, who produced the previous bottle design for 2010’s Bowmore 40 Years Old release, this time taking their inspiration from Islay’s Loch Indaal. Alongside the bottle, Edinburgh’s leading silversmiths Hamilton & Inches have crafted a suitably fitting solid silver enclosure for each bottle.
According to Bowmore ambassa-dor Gordon Dundas, the whisky comes from the now legendary par-cel of distillery stock laid down in 1964, the fruits of which, became the highly coveted Bowmore Trilogy collection, including the White, Gold and Black Bowmore releases, now fetch-ing a small fortune at auction.
This 1964 Fino cask offering is bottled at 42.9% and is an immediate explosion of tropical fruit on the nose, melding with sweet vanilla notes.. The palate is a continuation of the tropical fruit with classic Bowmore parma violets and a subtle waft of aromatic peat smoke, making it one of the most charismatic, yet delicate Bowmore releases in recent memory.
