Boulder Spirits has partnered with drink specialist firm Proof Strength to import four of its whiskeys for worldwide distribution. Two single malts and two bourbons will be distributed to Europe and the United Kingdom to begin with.
Whiskey makers Boulder Spirits was founded by Scotsman Alastair Brogan, who moved from his home country to the United States in 2012, with the ambition to make the best American single malt in the world. He soon found that the Rocky Mountain in Boulder, Colorado, was the perfect place to start creation, and, rather handily, he brought with him a 1,500-gallon still. Distilling began in 2015.
Brogan commented on the distribution news: “We’re very excited to be working with the team at Proof Strength and bringing our whiskeys to the world. The semi-arid Colorado climate and spectacular water, combined with our Forsyths copper pot still and new oak aging, puts a unique Boulder expression on our distinct American single malts and bourbons. We think whiskey drinkers are in for a treat.”
A number of Boulder Spirits expressions have featured in Whisky Magazine’s tastings sections as of late, including the Straight Bourbon in the most recent issue (185) which was awarded the recommended badge.
Proof Strength co-founder Ian Matthews added: “We’re excited to introduce Boulder Spirits’ award-winning American single malt whiskeys and bourbons to Europe. The USA is preparing to recognize the category of single malt whiskey with a federal standard of identity as it does bourbon, and we think both will appeal to all whiskey lovers.”
