Bowmore and Aston Martin have announced the final expression in their collaborative series the Masters’ Selection.
The Bowmore Masters’ Selection Edition 4 is a 21-year-old single malt matured in tawny port American oak and oloroso sherry casks. It follows the 22- and 21-year-old expressions that make up the rest of the series.
The Masters’ Selection intends to celebrate the expertise of Bowmore and Aston Martin in their respective fields. The two companies began their collaboration in 2019, since which date they have also released the Designed by Aston Martin series and a 52-year-old Bowmore in a sculptural decanter.
Commenting on the latest release, Ron Welsh, who made the whisky before he retired from his master blender role, said: “This fourth and final edition of Masters’ Selection defines the journey of this collaboration to date with absolute perfection. We’ve brought together components of the previous three releases to realise the finale of the series to celebrate both flavour and complexity.
“Uniting the spirit of both Bowmore and Aston Martin has been an honour and a privilege for everyone involved and I am confident this shows in the quality of what we have created together. We look forward to continuing to explore and stretch the possibilities of this incredible partnership for many more years to come.”
Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer, Aston Martin, added: “Working on the Masters’ Selection has been both inspiring and enlightening over the past four years. The whisky-making process, with its attention to detail and depth, has enriched my understanding and appreciation for this craft… This partnership with Bowmore highlights our shared values of precision and excellence, resulting in a whisky that truly stands out. I am proud to have played a role in creating this exceptional whisky.”
The brand says Edition 4 has notes including salted toffee, orange zest, thyme, and milk chocolate.
Bowmore Masters’ Selection Edition 4 (51.4% ABV) will be available in selected markets at an RSP of £425 from July 2024.
