Bushmills Irish Whiskey has added Bushmills 23 Years Old Madeira Cask to its Causeway Collection.
The limited-edition single malt Irish whiskey has spent its 23-year maturation solely in first fill Madeira casks, bottled at cask strength.
The release will initially be exclusive to Avolta’s World Duty Free stores at Heathrow Airport, before a global release to Avolta travel retail stores at the end of June.
Bushmills master blender Alex Thomas (pictured) said: “I wanted to share something truly unique for our partners at Avolta. I chose this single malt aged exclusively in Madeira casks for its distinct profile, bursting with summer fruits, sweet peach and roasted nuts.”
Thomas continued: “Each decision — from the cask selection and seasoning process, to the bottling and packaging — is testament to our restless pursuit of perfection and determination to delight consumers with ground-breaking and prestigious single malt whiskeys. Having spent 23 years maturing in Madeira casks alone, I’m confident this one will be hugely popular… its luscious sweetness is basically summer in a glass!”
Previous Causeway Collection releases have included whiskeys finished in Sauternes and Cognac casks, among others.
To celebrate the release of the 23 Years Old Madeira Cask, Bushmills will host samplings at the World Duty Free store in Terminal 3 of Heathrow Airport, as well as running a Father’s Day competition to win a Causeway Collection miniature.
Bushmills 23 Year Old Madeira Cask (53.8% ABV) will be available from World Duty Free stores at Heathrow Airport from 29 May 2024 with an RRP of £390 (€440, US$507).
