Bushmills has unveiled the fourth series in its Causeway Collection of limited-edition Irish whiskeys.
The 2023 Causeway Collection, curated by Bushmills master blender Alex Thomas, comprises nine single malts aged from 10 to 23 years old. All have been matured in oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels before a finishing period in a different cask type, with finishing casks used including virgin American oak, Sauternes, and Cognac.
A new bottle and pack design has also been unveiled for the Causeway Collection this year.
Thomas said: “I have a passion for unusual wood and reimagining a traditional single malt which makes this collection a particularly exciting one to share. I’m obsessed with uncovering the untold secrets and character of these casks and this series is the perfect marriage of Bushmills timeless experience with fresh thinking and innovation
“These sensational whiskeys deliver bold, untold waves of flavours that pay homage to the mythical heritage and natural landscape of Bushmills. We are delighted to share this very special collection with whiskey lovers all over the world.”
Launched in 2020, the Bushmills Causeway Collection is inspired by natural landmark the Giant's Causeway, located close to the distillery site in Co. Antrim, where whisky distillation has taken place since the early 1600s. This year's release comes soon after the opening of Bushmills' new Causeway Distillery, adjacent to the Old Bushmills Distillery.
The 2023 Causeway Collection whiskeys are all non-chill filtered and range in price from €100 to €450.
