French whisky producer Celtic Whisky Distillerie has announced the launch of its latest expression, Gwalarn Celtic Pure Malt.

This blended malt whisky combines spirits from Germany, Scotland, and France. It is aged in bourbon ex-barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. Tasting notes from Celtic Whisky Distillerie say the whisky has notes of ripe fruit and vanilla.

It joins the distillery’s existing stable of whiskies, including its Glann Ar Mor and Kornog single malts.

Chris Jones, managing director at Paragon Brands, which is distributing Gwalarn in the UK, said: “With 20 years of rich heritage and a renowned dedication to Celtic whisky, the launch of Gwalarn Celtic Malt Whisky solidifies Celtic Whisky Distillerie as a benchmark for French whisky.

“French whisky is a fast-growing market, sculpted by its premium quality and distinctive blending. With each sip of Gwalarn Celtic Malt, you can taste its unique geographical origins, the force of the wind and maturation beside the seas.”

Gwalarn Celtic Pure Malt is available in the UK from Paragon Brands, with a recommended price of £53.49 for a 70cl bottle.

Founded in Brittany in 1997, Celtic Whisky Distillerie is considered by many as a pioneer of French whisky, using traditional distillation techniques including direct firing.
