Halloween is just a week away, so it's time to start planning your cocktail menu. Today, for your spooky season consideration, we submit this recipe from Smokehead Whisky.
Taking inspiration from the Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, widely celebrated in Mexico during this time, Smokehead has used its Tequila-cask-finished edition in this Margarita-esque cocktail. Smokehead's smoky Islay single malt joins sweet and sour flavours for a complex whisky take on the Tequila classic.
Given its skull iconography, Smokehead is quite the classic Halloween whisky for cocktails — last year, the brand's seasonal recipe was a Halloween Hot Toddy. One to warm you up as the days grow shorter.
Ingredients:
22.5ml Smokehead Tequila Terminado
25ml dry vermouth
25ml triple sec
22.5ml fresh lemon juice
Lemon zest to garnish
Method:
Add the Smokehead Whisky together with the other liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and pour into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a twist of fresh lemon zest.
